Who We Are
The Young Men’s Service League is a 501(c)(3) non-profit national organization. Members of YMSL are moms and their teenage sons who volunteer together to serve their local communities during his four years of high school. YMSL currently represents over 7,000 moms and 8,000 young men as part of 94 chapters across 15 states. YMSL offers moms service opportunities and time together with her son(s) to grow their relationship and to instill in him a heart of service to last a lifetime. In addition to service, as part of its four-year comprehensive program, YMSL teaches leadership and life skills to develop our young men to become the capable, confident and compassionate leaders of tomorrow.
To assist, serve, and support those who are in need in our community, develop leadership skills among our membership and promote mother-son relationships.
Moms with Sons on a Mission
2001: Founded in Plano, Texas
Pam Rosener and her sister-in-law and Julie Rosener were in search of an opportunity for their high school sons that would get them involved with local community service projects and give them a chance to spend more quality time with their sons. While options were available for moms and daughters, an organization committed to the growth and development of young men was missing. The Roseners wanted to create an organization that was dedicated to community service and fostering mother/son relationships, so in 2001 they rallied a number of moms and began what is now Young Men’s Service League.
2005: YMSL National is Formed
With the success of the Young Men’s Service League in the Plano and Collin County area of Texas, a national organization was formed in 2005 and expansion began. In the first year, 4 new chapters were added. Ten years later, YMSL had grown to 53 chapters and expanded into multiple states.
2019: YMSL’s Strong Growth Continues
Pam Rosener, President of YMSL’s National Board, is on a mission to bring the YMSL experience to as many communities as possible to provide YMSL’s unique service, learning and leadership opportunities to young men and their moms across the country and around the world. Currently, there are 94 chapters in 15 states. Since its inception YMSL members have served over 1.5 million community service hours.
